Kent State University
Undergraduate recruitment

Overview

I led the design, production, and evolution of the College of Arts & Sciences viewbook, the primary print publication used to introduce prospective students to Kent State’s largest academic college. I developed a flexible editorial system that could adapt to new brand guidelines, content, and photography, evolving annually without sacrificing consistency or readability.
The challenge: organize a significant amount of information into an engaging, accessible publication with visual consistency throughout.

Approach

I approached the viewbook as a scalable design system rather than a single publication. By establishing flexible grid structures, typography standards, and repeatable page layouts, I created a framework that supported multiple types of content, from academic program information to student stories and visual storytelling, while maintaining a cohesive reading experience throughout.

Outcome

The resulting publication system supported nine recruitment cycles, allowing the College of Arts & Sciences to refresh content without starting from scratch. I created a clear visual identity across the college’s 19 academic departments, while giving each publication the ability to adapt to new audiences, stories, and priorities.
