Nike x Hasbro: Monopoly Day

Overview

Commissioned by Uninterrupted, I designed a series of custom, youth-focused commercial illustrations for a private, interactive community event at House Three Thirty celebrating the Nike x LeBron x Monopoly collaboration. Serving as the freelance illustrator, I led the visual direction and narrative concept development for my commissioned themes, pitching initial proofs and scaling the artwork across six final approved designs displayed within a live-size experiential board game.
The challenge: Develop an illustration series relevant to Nike, LeBron, and the event’s financial literacy mission, while adhering to strict brand restrictions. The art needed to be visually engaging for the target audience of 6th–8th grade students of the iPromise School.

Approach

To expedite the approval process with Uninterrupted and Nike stakeholders, I utilized Adobe Firefly to generate four proof-of-concept variations for my pitch.

Upon receiving feedback and approval from Nike, I expanded the collection to six original illustrations tailored to the youth market, including a pink basketball-themed graphic (and a blue version per Nike’s request), a “money” theme, an Akron-centric “Rubber City” design, a motif piece for middle-school girls, and a Nike-requested science variation.

I delivered 200 prints that were displayed in my assigned storefront on the life-size Monopoly board, where hundreds of students purchased my artwork using event currency. Remaining prints were donated.

Outcome

The collaboration successfully demonstrated a senior-level ability to interpret a high-stakes commercial brief and execute within a rigid brand system. Selected as one of only six local creators invited to contribute to the initiative, the assets seamlessly integrated into a major corporate cross-over event covered globally by Sports Illustrated, Hypebeast, and Complex, proving the commercial agility, speed, and market appeal of my illustration practice.
